RUNNING PERFORMANCE & INJURY PREVENTION

Runners have a 30-50% annual rate of injury. It could be a coin toss if you end up completing your running season or sidelined on the couch! We know how important it is for runners to stay healthy and out on the road or trails. Body One offers a unique program to help runners perform better and reduce their injury risk with specific assessments and targeted exercise.

Common Running-Related Injuries:

  • Knee pain “Runner’s Knee”
  • Hip pain
  • IT Band Syndrome
  • Achilles’ tendinitis
  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • Stress Fractures
  • Back pain

Injury Risk Factors:

  • Runners with less than 3 years of experience are 2.5-3x more likely to sustain an injury
  • Runners with a sudden increase in training load (weekly mileage, pace, days of training) are at increased risk
  • Runners with a previous injury in the past year are 2.6-2.7x more likely to sustain a subsequent injury

At all three Body One locations, we have running-specialist PTs. They treat many runners as part of their practice and utilize research Body One has done in running injury and prevention. All our PTs who specialize in treating runners are also runners themselves; from competing in track and field to running marathons – and they understand the drive and passion runners feel for their sport. Our Physical Therapists help runners with injury run pain-free and help healthy runners improve their technique and avoid injury!
