Frequently Asked Questions

Why Choose Body One?

Expert clinicians and staff at three central Indiana locations are committed to providing the highest-quality physical therapy care, one therapist and one patient at a time. We focus on providing care with minimal discomfort to gain maximum function. Services include physical therapy treatment for spinal disorders impacting the neck and lower back, shoulder dysfunction, hip and pelvic pain, knee problems, foot and ankle pain, hand and wrist, and rheumatologic conditions. The Body One team also offers custom fitness and wellness programs including aftercare, sport-specific training, strength training, and Pilates for individuals and groups.

Do I need a prescription or physician’s order to receive physical therapy?

No, by Indiana statute you do not need a prescription to receive physical therapy. Medicare does require a referral from a physician, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant to receive physical therapy. Aetna and Medicaid plans do require a physician’s order for the services to be covered by insurance.

What insurance do you accept?

Body One Physical Therapy is a network provider with most major insurance networks. We do contact your insurance carrier to verify eligibility and benefit, but we encourage you to also contact your insurance carrier to check your outpatient physical therapy benefits. Below are some of the major networks that we participate with. If you do not see your network or plan listed, please call one of our offices for further information about your network participation.

What type of costs are associated with physical therapy?

Typically the average patient visit cost is between $70 to $110. On average, a Body One patient is seen 9 to 10 times for a total average cost of between $672 to $900. Your share of this total cost will depend upon your insurance benefits. For example, if you were responsible for 10% coinsurance your total out of pocket expense could range between $67.20 and $86.40. Another example would be if you had a $20 co-pay and you had 10 visits, your total out of pocket expense would be $200.

What should I bring to my first physical therapy visit at Body One?

For your first physical therapy visit, you will need to bring your completed patient forms and photo identification, insurance information, and comfortable exercise clothing. An adult patient checklist can be found here and a minor patient checklist can be found here.

How much time should I allow for my appointments?

The initial physical therapy evaluation will last about one hour, but we ask you to please arrive 20 minutes prior to your initial visit to allow for your initial check-in. Subsequent follow-up visits will last about 30-45 minutes in length and are dependent upon the specific needs of the patient. For these visits we ask that you please arrive 5-10 minutes prior to your visit.

How many visits will I need?

The number of visits will vary depending upon your diagnosis, the severity of your incident, your past medical history, and your commitment to self-management. Typically, Body One patients are seen for 9.6 visits.

How is my progress measured?

Tracking your process is an ongoing process that your therapist will be evaluating during each session to quantify any progression. Your progress will be noted and sent to your referring physician, primary care physician, insurance company and/or case manager. Your physical therapist will continually track your progress and every 2 weeks we will ask you to complete a ‘Patient Outcome Form.’ This information helps your therapist track your recovery.

Will you be in contact with my physician?

Yes, our therapists are in frequent communication with your physician. We will forward our evaluation results and impressions following your visit and re-evaluation your condition approximately. Your physician will be advised of your progress. In addition, please advise us if you have a follow-up appointment scheduled with your physician so that we may prepare a report in advance of your appointment.

What do I do if I get injured on the job?

If you are injured at work, talk to you employer and physician, who may determine that physical therapy or occupational therapy is necessary. You will then be given a prescription for treatment. For more information, please call one of our three convenient locations.

What happens if I miss or have to cancel an appointment?

Please help us to provide you with the best service possible by keeping scheduled appointments. Unless cancelled at least 24 hours in advance, our policy is to charge for late, cancelled or missed appointments at the rate of $40 per missed visit.

What is the current standard for Physical Therapists education?

Physical therapy education has moved to the doctoral level in most institutions across the United States. The move to a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree reflects the growing amount of information required in the practice of physical therapy.
